Caravan v Motorhome Which is best for you?

Caravans and Motorhomes both have advantages and disadvantages which vary in importance depending on your preferred style of holiday.

Touring caravans appeal to those who like to stay at a site for more than a few days, using the car to explore the local area.

Once the caravan is pitched on site, popping to the shops or local attractions becomes far simpler than it would be in a motorhome, where you'd have to pack everything up every time you go out.

Caravans are also the less costly of the two options, both in terms of initial outlay and the subsequent costs. Motorhomes are essentially second vehicles, meaning twice the insurance, servicing, taxing and petrol costs.

Motorhomes will, however, be the choice for those who don't like the idea of towing (although towing courses are available to help caravan owners learn how to do it and do it safely). Their mobility is a great advantage.

Our best advice, as with buying a new home, is not to rush into the decision. Take your time, sit in caravans, sit in and test drive motor homes, go away, think about it and come back for another look.
