Calor gas takes care of all your caravanning energy needs, including cooking, heating and barbecuing. You simply can't caravan without it, and will quickly learn that Calor is a vital part of your holiday.
Like all bottled gas, Calor cylinders should be handled, stored and used with care. So to help you look after your cylinders correctly, we've put together the following advice:
- Always store and use your Calor cylinders in an upright (vertical) position rather than laying them on their side.
- Ensure the valve is not damaged before making a connection between cylinder and appliance.
- Follow any safety advice and instruction given with the cylinder.
- Always try to change cylinders outdoors, away from any sources of ignition such as naked lights, open fires or lit cigarettes. The appliance must also be switched off.
- Lift cylinders with care, as the total weight can be double the content weight shown. Don't struggle on your own if a cylinder is too heavy - get somebody to help you carry it.
- Ensure that the cylinder cap is replaced when empty.
- Never subject a cylinder to heat - the pressure inside could build up to exceed the safe limit.
- Don't store or use cylinders below ground level.
- All gas appliances, together with any associated flues, should be regularly serviced. There should always be sufficient ventilation available to ensure good combustion and prevent the possibility of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) being produced.
