 Three Club Sites have come out on top of the membership poll in the annual Calor Caravan Club Site Awards 2005. The awards, sponsored by the UK’s leading supplier of LPG, are designed to reward aesthetic and environmental achievement, and equally to recognise the outstanding job that the Site Wardens do to ensure that caravanners enjoy their stay to the full. Members cast votes in their thousands over the summer in support of their favourite Club Site on the 200-strong network. The three award categories – Get Away, Discovery and Spirit – match the Club Site categories which help members to locate the destination best suited to their interests.

The favourite Discovery Club Site is Moreton-in-Marsh Caravan Club Site is set in the heart of the Cotswolds with easy access to many places of historic interest, and within walking distance of this thriving market town with its famous weekly street market. The attractive, wooded site has several added facilities including crazy golf, volleyball and boules, but according to those who voted, the main attraction is the friendly, helpful wardens who are on hand to ensure that all visitors have a fantastic stay in this beautiful part of England.

The favourite Get Away Club Site is Cae Mawr Site in North Wales, for the second year running. Not only have Wardens, Chris and Terry Woodroffe been successful in these awards, they have also won national and Caravan Club acclaim for the Site’s glorious, floral displays. The location of Cae Mawr on the tranquil and beautiful island of Anglesey, with its stunning beaches and clear seas, make it an ideal ‘Get Away’ location and visitors on Site make the most of the coastal paths, and fabulous scenery and wildlife.

The favourite Spirit Site is Clumber Park Caravan Club Site set on 20 acres in the heart of Robin Hood territory, Sherwood Forest. Opportunities for an action-packed, outdoor holiday abound with cycling, riding or walking in the 4,000 acre Clumber Park, owned by the National Trust, with its network of woodland trails, superb serpentine lake and the longest avenue of lime trees in Europe! The Site has easy access to the National Cycle Network for those who wish to explore even further afield.

The Moreton-in-Marsh Caravan Club Site has the added distinction of being awarded the honour of overall Best Site for 2005 following final on-site judging by Calor and The Caravan Club.
 Receiving their awards from Adam Matthews of Calor at the Show were Robert and Helen Latham (Moreton-in-Marsh Wardens), Alan and Ann Shepley, and Mike and Bridget Shapland (Moreton-in-Marsh Assistant Wardens), Chris and Terry Woodroffe (Cae Mawr Wardens), Keith and Jean Murray (Clumber Park Wardens), Ian and Ros McCall, Keith and Pauline Lockett, and Peter and Jean Bowsley (Clumber Park Assistant Wardens).
