Three Club Sites have come out on top of the membership poll in the annual Calor Caravan Club Site Awards 2004. The awards, sponsored by the UK’s leading supplier of LPG, are designed to reward aesthetic and environmental achievement, and equally to recognise the outstanding job that the Site Wardens do to ensure that caravanners enjoy their stay to the full. Members cast votes in their thousands over the summer in support of their favourite Club Site on the 200-strong network. The three award categories – Get Away, Discovery and Spirit – match the Club Site categories which help members to locate the destination best suited to their interests.

The favourite Get Away Club Site is Cae Mawr on the beautiful isle of Anglesey in North Wales. Here the accent is on dramatic scenery and the delights of a glorious coastline. The site enjoys impressive views of the mountains of Snowdonia and this, coupled with access to safe, sandy beaches and wonderful coastal paths, makes it the ideal destination to literally ‘get away’ from it all. Wardens Chris and Terry Woodroffe have already made a name for the Site by winning the ‘Sites in Bloom Award’ and visitors appreciated the stunning floral displays which adorned this sheltered island site.

The favourite Discovery Club Site is Broadway, situated on the edge of this lovely Cotswold village. The site itself has recently benefited from a £1.2 million redevelopment programme which skilfully retained the essential character of the Site, particularly its unique features relating to the nearby railway – including an old goods shed, platform, ticket office and other railway memorabilia. Discovery Club Sites are characterised by having lots of things to do and places to visit in the vicinity, and Broadway certainly fits the bill perfectly. As well as the delights of idyllic villages set in the wonderful rolling Cotswold hills, and the nearby Gloucester & Warwick heritage railway, there is easy access to Sudeley Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon and the Broadway Tower Country Park.

The favourite Spirit Site is Incleboro Fields on the spectacular North Norfolk coast. Providing an ideal base for an action-packed holiday the hillside Site offers pitches with a choice of sea or forest views, and has easy access to the area’s network of paths for cycling or walking, or visitors can take to the open sea for seal watching trips. Steam trains, nearby National Trust properties and lovely local restaurants and pubs are added ingredients for the perfect holiday mix.

Incleboro Fields has the added distinction of being awarded the honour of overall Best Site for 2004 following final on-site judging by Calor and The Caravan Club.
