Over the years many caravan parks owners have decided to allow only adults stay on their sites. It is estimated that there are as many as 70 in the UK.
The decision to cater only for mature caravanners may be for many reasons:
• The nature of the caravan park or a nearby feature could constitute a danger to children (e.g. an adjacent lake)
• The park is too small to provide adequate space for climbing frames, ball-play areas or play equipment
• To offer an alternative to family sites, where customers can relax away from bikes, football games etc.
To qualify for membership of this group of adult-only sites, caravan parks must adhere to the following principles:
• They must be touring caravan parks exclusively for grown-ups
• Grown-ups in this instance means a minumum age of 18 years.
• Member caravan parks must have a minumum of 10 pitches.
• Static sites would also be welcomed, provided that they adhered to the ADULTS ONLY ruling.
