Waeco was founded in 1974 by two brothers, Theodor and Peter Wahning. The company now makes a wide range of refrigeration and air-conditioning products co-ordinated in their factory and offices in Germany.

In 1949, three engineers from Lyon filled a huge gap in the post war leisure market when they created the first 901 cylinder stove. The idea caught on rapidly, and by 1951 Camping Gaz was establishing a world wide cylinder exchange programme that brought total freedom to travellers. The now legendary Bleuet stove was introduced in 1956 and over the next four decades Camping Gaz continued to provide consumers with clever products that offer comfort and reliability for outdoor living.
